日本女子サッカーチームの ワールドカップ優勝に次ぐ、国民栄誉賞の受賞にニックも私(和子)もとても感激しています。


Nick:
Did you see the Japanese Women’s soccer team took the People’s Honor Award?
日本女子サッカーチームが、国民栄誉賞をもらったの観た?
Kazuko:
Yeah, it bowled me over. It’s the first time for a team to win it.
とても驚いたわ。 チームが獲得するのは初めてね。
Nick:
They’ve done so much to boost people’s spirits after the Tohoku Disaster, I think they’ve been given their dues.
東北の震災の後、みんなの士気を高めるのに とっても貢献してくれたね。 これで彼女たちも功績が認められたと思うよ。
Kazuko:
Their success has brought so many soccer fans out of the woodwork.
彼女たちの成功で、沢山のサッカーファンができるわね。
Nick:
I think many of them didn’t know they were fans before the team’s win.
多くの人は、チームが勝利するまで自分たちが サッカーが好きだってことに気付かなかったと思うよ。
Kazuko:
Fair-weather fans are better than no fans at all.
うわべだけのファンでも、全然ファンでないよりはいいわよ。
Nick:
I hope their time in the spotlight doesn’t jinx them ahead of the Olympics next year; so many hopes are riding on their shoulders now.
今 世間の注目を浴びていることで、来年のオリンピックを前にして、つきが悪くならなければいいけど。 今では みんなの期待が彼女たちの肩にかかっているからね。
